Interiors

Interiors are the ultimate expression of one’s personal style, or a brand’s core essence. They tell a story, while also setting the stage for more stories to be told.

1015 Bonham Residence | Banquette & Shelves

Design Objective: The client wanted a more open space connecting his dining room and kitchen, but there was a structural wall dividing the rooms that would have been very complex to removed. So, we came up with a creative solution that worked with the existing constraints. By replacing the wooden framing with a single 4’x4’  steel column wrapped in white oak and integrated with a shelving system, we were able to accomplish the client’s request with minimal invation to the structure of the house.

Arena Hall | Executive Suite

Design Objective: The client was not your average double-monitor-standing-desk type. He actually didn’t want a desk at all. His request to me was “make it Mad Men” and that he wanted it to feel cozy where he could host meetings, play good music, and have a nice glass of wine.

1015 Bonham Residence | Speakeasy

Design Objective: The client had an unused space located off of the main dining area that he wanted to turn into a hidden loungey speakeasy. He was inspired by his travels to Japan, but otherwise had no input, aside from wanting maximum seating. The room is only 9x10 ft, so we lined the walls with plush benches and added the umbrella drop ceiling to create a cozy feel. The dark navy walls and velvet curtains enhance the sense of drama as guests opened the hidden slat wall door to the secret lounge.

1015 Bonham | Austin, Tx

Design Objective: This client needed a flexible space that would serve as an office space and double as a guest room. I suggested the murphy bed and corner desk to maximize space. The client loved the greenbelt view, so we added a 7’x7’ clear story window with a custom adjustable standing desk. I also worked with a local fabricator and plant installer to create a 7 x 7’ living wall that is directly behind the desk and serves as a backdrop for zoom calls.

This project required working hand-in-hand with a local millwork team and other trades to execute the construction of the room. Some of the specific functions include: (a) murphy bed and magnetic clasps that held it in place, (b) the large window (that was on the 3rd floor and require scaffolding), and (c) the fabrication and maintenance of the large living wall.
